Well I am addicted to blogging and I can't not write. So bear with me while I have to write in English.
Remember that "Ghorazeh" computer I had with Windows "dozdi"? well, I can't use that anymore until I go get a genuine copy of the software which will be a while. This laptop they have given me from work doesn't let me activate Farsi language so I am stuck.
Anyway, one of the really good advices I heard during my PhD education which really helped me make progress was this:
Never mistake effort with results.
Now how many of you guys do that? I used to do it all the time. Thinking that I can stop working now because I have tried for so many hours and put in so much of effort. Well, guess what? that's not how it works. What really matters is to get to the goals you have set. Otherwise you will be frustrated, feel incompetent, and your manager will be unhappy with your performance because what s/he cares about is your results not the effort.
Now you might tell me that you have done your best and you still didn't reach the goal. My first reaction is "did you really do your best?"...if you in all honesty did then you are doing something wrong...you probably need to gain a set of skills you don't have such as time management and stress management. Or you don't know how to set up realistic achievable goals and assess your abilities realistically so you can connect your dreams to your current reality.
Whatever it is, stop complaining and start working harder and remember that "a job half done is a job not done".
Now this was my two cents of wisdom that I had gained through my PhD and I wanted to pass it on to you.

* This is the question Kayvan asked me after my defense and I intend to write about it once in a while.

You will not like this comment and may remove it but beware that not everything we learn in american corporates (american universities are no exception) is correct. What you have written is corporate culture, the culture which tries to make you the best profitable person for the corporate, not the best person or the healthiest, mentally or physically or even socially. I don't think this is what you should have learned as a PhD,. PhD is all about creativity and curiosity and passion to explore. You develop the skill to go beyond what others, specially your manager think!

it is really interesting that I come across this post while I am so worry about my papers. I wonder if it is possible for you to introduce any practical ways for doing time management and stress management, since I am so stressed nowadays. .
